Friday, June 18, 2010Fun new Bat Mitzvah Invitations
Your daughter loves style. You love a bargain. Naptime's new Bat Mitzvah Invitations suit both of you!
Our new kaliedoscope design makes a cheerful, festive first impression. Choose your favorite from yellow with sky, green with purple, and pink with yellow combinations. The color coodinates are easy to pick up and repeat for your table decorations, using circular confetti in the same colors, and alternating plate or napkin colors.
Plume, another new design, captures the popular look of layered swirls. Pink is available for the girls who favor it, and other color combinations are coming soon. The square bat mitzvah invitation format gives a modern look and helps your invitation to stand out from the daily bills and junk.
Capture the look in your party decorations by using black with pink accents, a feminine look in your bat mitzvah centerpieces and simple flowing lines.
If you would like any of our custom bat mitzvah invitations in a different color combination, be sure to ask! We can often modify the designs for you when we print your cards.

Thursday, April 15, 2010Top 10 Items to Keep a Toddler Busy in a Restaurant
You have more than a half-hour to wait for your food and your dinner companions are not feeling patient with your whining or fussing toddler. Your toddler has NO intention of sitting patiently while the adults talk, especially while he is hungry.
Do you give up on eating out? No. Adapt. Grab a few things to throw in your purse and go eat out! Choose a relatively noisy restaurant popular with families.
The most effective distraction for your young child is humor and
play. Even salt and pepper shakers can be fun if Daddy is making them
talk. When another adult is asking for conversation, try one of these distractions to keep your little one occupied.
- Ask your server for a small cup of chipped ice and an empty cup. Combine with a spoon or straw for lasting play. Spills? No problem. It's just water.
- Bring a sheet of stickers. Have your toddler go around your table and add stickers to knees.
- Crackers. Let the child unwrap them to make them last.
- Bring a small container of play dough for use on a hard table. Ask your child to make you a cookie. When finished, pack it away for later and use a napkin to wipe off the table.
- Ask your child to draw a picture of you or your home with crayons. Then you add the caption.
- Pile the different colored sweetener packets on the table and have your child sort them by color. Or hide one under your hand and have them guess the color.
- Race a match box car back and forth across the table to each other, adding a menu ramp as necessary.
- Bring washable markers and let them decorate their hands.
- With the adults, make "table art" sculptures from the condiments and items on the table. Oddly, this is quite entertaining.
- Keep a small, quiet-time toy with you that is reserved for restaurant time. Try a small puzzle, a container of slime, bag of trinkets, or small sack of "tokens".

Friday, March 26, 2010Twins Baptism with a Noah's Ark Theme
If you have twins and are having a baptism celebration, you can double the fun with our Noah's Ark theme invitations and decorations! This adorable bible story theme also works for first cousins sharing a reception.
- Start the fun with our popular Noah's Ark baptism invitaiton. Choose blue, pink or unisex pale sage or lilac to coordinate with the babies being baptized.
- Choose table decorations to continue the color scheme. Try a simple vase of fresh flowers on each table, tied with a wide ribbon in your color.

Next to or hanging from each vase arrange two matching small plush animals. Zebras on one table, tigers on another. These can double as favors for the children present. Run a strip of the same ribbon down the center of each table and sprinkle some animal confetti around.
- If you will have small party favors at each place-setting, tie with the same ribbon color and add a tag with "thank you for coming" to each one. Animal shaped tags would be especially cute. You may be able to find pre-cut ones at a teacher supply store.
- Try one of these for your dessert table: a Noah's Ark cake design, animal cutout cookies, or cupcakes each decorated with a different animals (in pairs of course!)

Thursday, March 11, 2010First Birthday Fun
Planning a first birthday celebration is quite different than planning older childrens' birthday parties. The focus in this party needs to be adjusted to coordinate with your guest list.
Mostly Adults
If your party is mostly adults and a few toddlers, you may choose to keep the party more sophisticated with adult food favorites and beverages. Your decorations could lean more elegant than playful. Create a children's island for your youngest guests. Set up a toddler-safe play area, and have age-appropriate treats and activities ready. The end result could be a refreshing adult mixer, which is also child-friendly.
Mostly Young Families
If your guest list will include many children of varying ages, your party could be focused on their entertainment. Your one-year-old will be too young for the activities, but he will greatly enjoy watching the older children play games. You only need one game and a craft project. The focus of the party can still be conversation and relaxation. Providing a children's play area with coloring pages, toys and toddler munchies will allow the parents to mingle. You may want to set up an older children's area, too, with age-appropriate games and toys.
What will make the party best for you and your birthday baby?
- Plan the party for your baby's best time of day. Never have a child's party at nap time. Fuses are short then.
- One-year-old children do not play in groups yet. Allow your baby to spend much of the party on your hip, observing the crowd.
- Plan foods and a beverage counter that do not require maintenance during the party. If the snacks or beverages will need replenishing during the party, ask a sister, niece or aunt to monitor the refills.
- Be ready for a mess. There will be one. Have clean up supplies handy.
- Ask a relative to make a list of gifts as you open them.
- Enjoy! It's YOUR party. Don't worry if your baby hides his head from Aunt Millie, wants to play with the box instead of the gift, or refuses to touch the cake. So goes parenthood.
